Wintersleep: “Weighty Ghost”

I’m totally grooving on a track from the band Wintersleep, the song called “Weighty Ghost” off of their 2007 disc Welcome to the Night Sky.

The song’s available for download on the wonderful Songs: Illinois blog, and you can find the post at this link right here. Also, you can listen to some other tracks on their website or on their myspace page.

I don’t know much about this band, but I discovered them last week thanks to that Songs:Illinois blog (along with a bunch of other great bands that I’ll mention at a later date), and I’ve been listening to the song every day. Sometimes more than once.

A quick look at their reveals that they’re from Halifax, Nova Scotia, that this is their third album, and that they’re about to tour Europe.

EW’s 100 Best Albums of the Last 25 Years

Coming home from work today, I found Entertainment Weekly’s 1000th issue in my mailbox. At the exact same moment, my neighbor was delighting over receiving his new issue of National Geographic, so I guess that probably says a lot about me and where my interests lie.

The 1000th issue boasts the headline “The New Classics: The 1000 Best Movies, Albums, Books & More of the Last 25 Years.” I’ve only just now flipped through it as I walked up the stairs, but the first thing that caught my eye was the list of the 100 Best Albums of the Last 25 Years (found on page 72).
